Cursor Mode[edit | edit source]

Many tasks in Astroneer require entering Cursor Mode by holding Xbox One - Left Trigger. When Cursor Mode is active, a white circular reticle appears on the screen, which can be moved with Xbox One - Right Stick. Pressing Xbox One - Right Trigger on a selectable object will select that object, at which point Xbox One - Left Trigger can be released.

While an object is selected, Xbox One - Right Stick moves that object around and Xbox One - Left Stick can be used to move the player as normal. Pressing Xbox One - Right Trigger again will place the object down and exit Cursor Mode.

If the selected object is Small, pressing Xbox One - Y Button or Xbox One - X Button will transfer it into the player's Backpack unless the Backpack is full. Pressing Xbox One - Y Button or Xbox One - X Button while selecting a Medium object will place it in the player's hands to carry, but movement speed will slow.

When the Backpack interface is open, Cursor Mode can be used to move objects in and out of a player's Backpack.
