The Extra Large Storage is a good way to store items that the player may wish to find quickly, with the open dome layout easier to search through than stacks of Medium Storages. Storing commonly used items in this storage, such as Augments, frequently used Terrain Analyzers, Oxygen Tanks, or Small Batteries, can make it much easier to gear up for expeditions.

The Extra Large Storage, even with 31 slots for items, has a poor overall storage density. Using the same Extra-Large socket, a pair of Large Storages each holding four Medium Storages provides 64 slots for items with a similar dome shape (or 32 items on a smaller platform), and the Figurine Platform also has 64 slots and is even flatter and cheaper. Or if at-a-glance access is not a concern, high-density storage systems based on the Large Storage Silo B can pack over 500 items onto one Extra-Large slot.
